The Adirondack Theatre Festival’s professional internship program offers intense, hands on educational opportunities for current students and early career professionals seeking an introduction to careers in the professional theatre. Our goal is to provide interns with practical experience in the shop, rehearsal room, backstage and in the front office as well as valuable networking opportunities with working theatre professionals.
(ATF will begin accepting applications for Summer 2014 on January 1, 2014)
What’s it like to be an ATF intern? Check out this video made by 2013 Summer Intern, Bailey Kircher.
Internships are available in the following areas:
Artist & Staff Hospitality (1 intern)
Fundraising & Finance (1 intern)
Marketing & Social Media (1 intern)
Special Events & Audience Development (1 intern)
Production Assistant (2 interns to work as assistants to the stage managers)
Scenery (1 intern)
Electrics (1 intern)
Sound (1 intern)
Props/Paint (1 intern)
Wardrobe (1 intern)
Please note, while interns are assigned specific departments and mentors, they are also expected to work outside their chosen area of expertise. We strive to provide each intern with a well-rounded experience designed to inform them of all the various jobs required to mount a professional production. As a small professional theatre, ATF offers our interns unique access to working professionals in all areas of the theatre. This networking experience happens throughout the internship, be it the work day, social gatherings or Inter Lunch (our brown bag series during which interns have lunch with visiting artists and are able to ask direct questions about the business, training, etc.)
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
ATF Internships require a full-time commitment in Glens Falls, NY. This is an intensive professionally-streamed internship. While best efforts are made to ensure that interns get time off, there are no regularly scheduled days off each week. There is no time for outside employment.
Administrative interns arrive May 26, 2014. Production interns arrive June 3, 2014. All interns will be released from work on August 9, 2014 at 5 PM. Check-out from housing facilities may occur after 5 PM or the following day.
ATF interns are provided housing and a modest stipend of $200 at the conclusion of the commitment.
