Adirondack Theatre Festival’s eleventh season continues

July 6 – July 16
The Adirondack Theatre Festivals eleventh season continues with the
one-woman-show HIGH DIVE, by Leslie Ayvazian, July 6-16 at 8pm. Tickets

beginning July 7.
Standing on the high dive in Greece three weeks before her fiftieth
birthday, Leslie clings to the railing afraid to let go, afraid to take
the plunge. In her trepidation, she ponders the various comic disasters
of her life: frozen fish during a cold snap in Florida, tornadoes,
earthquakes in Mexico, a hurricane on her honeymoon in Hawaii, and a
boating accident on Saranac Lake. Called “well worth the the
plunge….engaging and hilarious from beginning to end,” by the New York
Daily News, HIGH DIVE was conceived with the idea of giving the audience
the opportunity to take the plunge into the play as well. Thirty minutes
before the show starts, Ms. Ayvazian makes her way through the lobby
looking for volunteers to play the various roles from her adventures
once the play begins.
Leslie Ayvazian wrote and performed FOOTLIGHTS, MAMA DRAMA, and HIGH
DIVE , the latter having a workshop production at the Long Wharf Theatre
in 2000.† It was then produced by The Play Company, in collaboration
with the Manhattan Class Company, in New York, with David Warren as
director.† HIGH DIVE was published by Samuel French .
Other writing credits include, a film for HBO, called EMMA IN CONCERT
with playwright Richard Greenberg, NINE ARMENIANS, SINGERS BOY, and
ROSEMARY AND I. Leslie has also written five one act plays: PRACTICE,
directed by Elinor Renfield, PLAN DAY a one woman show performed by
Leslie, DEAF DAY, a one woman show written for deaf actress Kaitlynn
Kenny, TWENTY-FOUR YEARS, and most recently HI THERE MR.
MACHINE.†††Leslie wrote the short film EVERY THREE MINUTES for Showtime
(2003) which was directed by Michael Pressman and starred Olympia
Dukakis.† It was awarded a Telly Award for excellence.
The Adirondack Theatre Festivals eleventh season will continue July 6-16
with HIGH DIVE and then conclude July 20-30 with MADAGASCAR at the
Charles R. Wood Theater in downtown Glens Falls.† Full price tickets for
HIGH DIVE and Madagascar are $25.† Tickets can be purchased by calling
the box office at 518-798-9663 or by going online at www.atfestival.org.
