When Paul disappears, he forever changes the lives of Lillian, June, and
Nathan. At three different periods of time each loved one finds him or
herself alone in the same hotel room in Rome, struggling to put together
the pieces of his vanishing, while recalling the memories of the past.
While Paul is the one missing, it is those he left behind who are
struggling to survive and asking themselves, “why does someone choose to
leave?”
MADAGASCAR received the 2005 Pinter Review Prize for Drama, and will be
published this fall in hardback through the Pinter Review and the
University of Tampa Press. The play also won the American Theatre
Critics Association’s 2004 M. Elizabeth Osborne Award and was a finalist
for the ATCA’s Steinberg New Play Award. ATF’s production of MADAGASCAR
