FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE…February 19, 2002

Early announcement:
Adirondack Theatre Festival to extend through
July in 2002.
Extended season opens June 19 with
East Coast Premiere of hilarious ice fishing musical GUYS ON ICE

Adirondack Theatre Festival's eighth season will add one week and a fourth show to run June 19 – July 28 at the Former Woolworths in downtown Glens Falls.

The 2002 Adirondack Theatre Festival will open Wednesday, June 19 with the East Coast Premiere of GUYS ON ICE, book and lyrics by Fred Alley, music by James Kaplan.  GUYS ON ICE is a fresh, funny musical originally produced by the American Folklore Theatre and Milwaukee Rep in Wisconsin and comes to ATF for its east coast premiere this summer. Despite the chilly temperatures inside the ice shanty,  GUYS ON ICE is sure to warm audiences with its humorous look at life, love, and the meaning of life from the perspective of a couple of guys named Marvin and Lloyd.

GUYS ON ICE will be directed by ATF artistic director Martha Banta, whose past credits at ATF include ART, WIT, and TIMES OF WAR.  Her recent credits include the world premiere of HALLOWED GROUND at Portland Stage, PLAYHOUSE DISNEY LIVE at Disney’s MGM Studios, Orlando, and BARBARA'S BLUE KITCHEN (ATF premier 2000) at Cincinnati Playhouse.  Casting for GUYS ON ICE will be announced in April.

ATF’s season will continue with three other productions, children’s workshops, post-show discussions, and new play readings which will all be announced in mid-April.  Discount season subscriptions will also go on sale in mid-April.  To make sure you’re on ATF’s mailing list and receive a season brochure in April call 798-7479 or go to www.ATFestival.org.

The Adirondack Theatre Festival has been presenting new and contemporary theater in the Glens Falls/Lake George region since 1995.  Among its many premieres was the original production of FULLY COMMITTED which is now being presented around the country after an eighteen month Off-Broadway and the first post-New York production of Adam Rapp’s NOCTURNE.
