to present first regional production of
NOCTURNE by Adam Rapp
featuring Dallas Roberts from the
Boston and New York productions.

The 2001 Adirondack Theatre Festival continues July 3 –8 with the first regional production of Adam Rapp’s one-person drama NOCTURNE. This will be the first presentation of NOCTURNE since it’s world premiere at the American Repertory Theater in Boston and a subsequent New York City run of that production which closed June 17.

NOCTURNE is a monologue which takes its narrator from a tragic accident which occurred when he was seventeen to the present day fifteen years later. Over the course of the play his family disintegrates in the aftermath of the accident, and he moves away to start his own life in New York City. Even as he pursues a career as a novelist and various relationships he is haunted by his past, and his efforts to reconcile his past grief with his present life.

Adam Rapp has received numerous playwriting awards including the 1999 Princess Grace Award and a 2000 Roger L Stevens Award from the Kennedy Center’s Fund for New American Plays. Besides NOCTURNE, recent productions include ANIMALS AND PLANTS at the American Repertory Theater in Boston and BLACKBIRD at the Bush Theater in London. Rapp also serves on the faculty at Vermont College. Dallas Roberts has received rave reviews for his performance in NOCTURNE in Boston and New York. Off Broadway he has also been seen in ENTER THE NIGHTS at the Signature Theater and he appeared on LAW AND ORDER and NEW YORK UNDERCOVER on television.
