Making a gift through your Will or Trust – also known as a charitable bequest – is an easy, tax-efficient way to leave an lasting impact. You can support Adirondack Theatre Festival without affecting your current lifestyle or your family’s security. In addition, a charitable bequest costs you nothing during your lifetime and leaves your cash flow/current financial planning unchanged.
Your gift costs you nothing now, and you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that your support for ATF will live on in the future.
Your charitable bequest offers a number of benefits to you and your family:
Versatility
You can structure the bequest to leave a specific item or amount of money, be a direct or contingent gift, or leave a percentage of your estate to ATF.
Tax Relief
If your estate is subject to estate tax, your gift is entitled to an estate tax charitable deduction for the gift’s full value.
Simplicity
Just a few sentences in your Will or Trust are all that is needed:
- Bequest of Cash (a specific amount of your estate committed to an ATF donation)
- Residuary Bequest (gives the “rest, residue and remainder” of your estate, or more commonly, a percentage of the residue after all other bequests, debts and taxes have been paid)
- Contingent Bequest (requires a certain event to occur before the gift can happen. For example, you could bequeath funds to a family member provided that person survives you; if not, the funds would then go to Adirondack Theater Festival).
Or Name ATF as a Direct or Contingent Beneficiary on Your Accounts or Assets:
It is also possible to simply designate Adirondack Theater Festival as the beneficiary of your accounts, stocks, mutual funds, and other assets (excluding real estate).
